Rom 12.5-6a Application: be the Church!

1. We are a BODY

2. We are ONE body

a. One holy catholic church

b. Our unity in God [Eph 4.4-6]

c. The one loaf of bread [1 Cor 10.16-17]

3. We are one body IN CHRIST

Eph 1.22-23; 4.15-16; 5.22-23

4. WE are one body in Christ

5. We BELONG to one another

All saints, that are united to Jesus Christ their Head, by His Spirit, and by faith, have fellowship
with Him in His graces, sufferings, death, resurrection, and glory: and, being united to one another in
love, they have communion in each other’s gifts and graces, and are obliged to the performance of
such duties, public and private, as do conduce to their mutual good, both in the inward and outward
man.
WCF 26.1

6. We are DIFFERENT

7. We all have something essential to offer [6a]

Quotes of note...

Frightful this is in a sense, but it is true, and every one who has merely some little knowledge of the human heart can verify it: there is nothing to which a man holds so desperately as to his sin.
Søren Kierkegaard
