Luke 1.57-2.14 The Good News of Christmas

Luke wants us to know for certain [1.4] what God has done for us in sending Jesus Christ into this world.

A. GOD PREPARED THE WAY FOR JESUS CHRIST TO COME

1. God sends John the Baptist to turn people back to God [1.57-66]

2. God gives a prophetic picture of the kind of things that He will give to us in Christ [1.67-79]

a. Knowledge
b. Salvation
c. Forgiveness
d. Mercy
e. Light
f. Peace

B. JESUS CHRIST HAS COME [2.1-7]

C. WHAT JESUS CHRIST HAS COME TO DO [2.10-11]

1. To help all people: …good news of great joy…for all the people

2. To help you: For unto you is born this day…

3. To save you: …a Savior…

4. To lead and defend you: …who is Christ the Lord.
