What is our responsibility as citizens of heaven AND citizens of the US?

A. WHO ARE WE? [2.11]

1. Beloved

a. Loved by God [1.1-2]

b. Loved by one another [1.22]

2. Aliens and strangers [1.1, 17]

B. WHAT ARE WE TO DO?

1. Negative: Abstain from sinful desires [2.11]

a. Don’t be like the world around you

b. Don’t be like you use to be [1.14]

c. Keep growing in Christ like behavior [2.1-2]

2. Positive: Live good lives [2.12]

a. Light exposes the darkness [2.15, 20; 3.1, 16]

b. Light points people to God [Mat 5.17]

C. HOW ARE WE TO DO THIS?

1. In the realm of civil responsibility [2.13-16]

a. Submit!

b. Why should I?
2. The Christian’s good civil behavior [17]

a. Honor all people

b. Love the brotherhood

c. Fear God

d. Honor the king [Gen 20]
