Sermon, November 2, 2008, Revelation 4.1 Open Doors

Revelation 4.1 Open Doors

The Book of Revelation begins with 3 doors
that we can choose to walk through.

A. DOOR NUMBER 1: the Gospel [3.7-8]

1. God opens doors for us to share the Gospel

2. Look for the doors that God is opening

What door might God be opening for ME?

B. DOOR NUMBER 2: fellowship with Jesus [3.20]

1. Jesus knocks to get our attention

2. Choose to open the door and invite Jesus in

C. DOOR NUMBER 3: confidence about life [4.1]

1. We can see things from the perspective of heaven

There is a throne in heaven: God is in control

2. Jesus is the key to seeing things from heaven’s perspective

a. This is the voice of Jesus [1.10, 12-13]

b. Jesus opens up the mysteries of God [Col 1.15-19; 2.2-3]

3. We can live life in the light of heaven’s perspective

God’s sovereign control is not just a truth to be believed, but lived.

Quotes of note...

Since God offers to manage our affairs for us, let us once and for all hand them over to His infinite wisdom, in order to occupy ourselves only with Himself and what belongs to Him.
