Acts 20.28 Guard Yourselves

Acts 20.28 Be on Guard

Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock,
among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers,
to shepherd the church of God
which He purchased with His own blood.

A. WHO ARE THESE MEN?

1. Overseers

2. Elders [17] (Deacons are addressed in Acts 6)

B. HOW WERE THESE MEN CALLED?

1. Not by the Session or congregation

2. Made by the Holy Spirit

C. WHAT ARE THESE MEN CALLED TO DO?

1. Shepherd the flock of God

2. Shepherd ALL the flock of God

D. WHY ARE THESE MEN NEEDED?

1. There are some who hate the church

a. Wolves [29]

b . Wolves in sheep’s clothing [30]

2. There is One who loves the church [28]

E. HOW ARE THESE MEN TO SERVE?

1. Guarding their own attitudes toward the flock [17-19]

a. All humility

b. All sympathy

c. All perseverance

2. Guarding their own time in God’s Word [20-21, 27, 30, 32]

3. Guarding their own hearts [33]

4. Guarding their own prayer life [36]
