Hebrews 12.1-6 Run, Resist, Remember

1. Faith must be founded upon God’s Word
2. Faith must result in obedience
3. Faith must endure

A. RUN [1-3]

1. The Christian life
2. The Christian walk
3. The Christian fight
4. The Christian race

a. Others have shown us how to run [chapter 11]
b. We need to lay aside what might hinder us
c. We need to keep running
d. We need to follow the course set for us
e. We are to run drawing strength from Christ

1) Jesus is the perfect example [12.3]
2) Jesus is the source of our strength [12.2]

B. RESIST [4]

1. Resist, strive…

2. …against sin…

3. …to the point of shedding blood.

4. Christ enables us to do this! [2.14-15; 5.8-9; 9.14; 13.20-21]

C. REMEMBER [5-6]

1. Pay attention to God’s Word!

2. Hear God speaking to YOU!

3. Remember that you are His child!

a. God will train you to keep you from sin [2 Cor 12.7]

b. God will train you to make you stronger [Jam 1.2-4; Rom 5.3-5]
